A ll he e mploys to frustrate and destroy the work of God has one thing in common; it appeals to the Adam in us all, the unholy ambition to be the gods of our own lives. Pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, and sloth, the so-called seven deadly sins, appeal to our more base, self-serving, nature. False religion, the society of secrets, supernatural powers, appeal to man’s spiritual pride, his determination to be master of his own destiny, god of his own world. The Darkness of Spiritual Pride We see spiritual pride at the Tower of Babel, where men built a tower to make a name for themselves. We see it in the desert when God’s people built a golden calf, the chosen choosing for themselves. We see it in the worship of Artemis ...

O ccult means ‘hidden’ or ‘concealed.’ It is the opposite in every way of God’s progressive revelation. The closer our walk with God, the greater our insight into his ways. Conversely, the closer our association with the occult, the darker our world becomes. The Bible warns us that there is a counterfeit supernatural power, that can perform wonder s . Being aware of the existence, and of the root of the power at work, is vital. I f we are not to be tricked by Satan we need to know his schemes ( 2 Corinthians 2:11 ) ‘ Be sober-minded; be watchful. This is helpful to know, so that we are aware of what is happening in our own life, but also to understand how others are drawn in. I wish to point out that the typo in the heading comes direct from the Daily Telegraph whose copy office is probably haunted by the ghost of Samuel Johnson, a man who was never that punctilious about what he put in his famous dictionary. When he was asked by a lady why he defined ‘pastern’ as the ‘knee’ of a horse, he replied, ‘Ignorance, madam, pure ignorance.’ “The village is said to have at least 12 spectres, including a highwayman, a phantom monk, the hanging body of a schoolmaster and a poltergeist in the local pub.” It seems that things that go bump in the night are not the fun-packed entertainment they are popularly thought to be. Scattered through the book are disparaging references to Christianity (and not a few barefaced prostitutions of Bible verses taken out of context). But imagine the reaction of some Mormons who have been through the secret LDS temple ceremonies when they read, in the first pages of the book, of Masonic oaths whose penalties are "Throat cut from ear to ear. . .tongue torn out by its roots. . .bowels taken out and burned . . .scattered to the four winds of heaven.." The Daily Telegraph reported on 5 February that: "The number of UFO sightings logged with the Ministry of Defence more than doubled to 285 last year, a rise described as "phenomenal" by experts. It is the highest number of sightings in 10 years. All the incidents are included in a document released by the MoD yesterday, which details the date, time and location of the sightings, along with a brief summary of the eyewitness reports. The Palace of Westminster sighting on Feb 12 is described as follows: "There was a craft that had green, red and white lights. It was still and static in the sky. It was seen for about an hour and a half." There is no information about who reported the UFO or what it may have been."
