How long does it take after you have resigned your membership in the Mormon Church before they do anything about it? This discussion on the Reachout Trust forum was started by Tex, a former Mormon who is still waiting after a year. The Mormons certainly take prisoners. Has anyone waited longer? “I'm not too worried about the paper or letter itself, it's just nice to know that if resignation has been asked then a request should be respected and the recipient be notified. But above all honesty. Did they really send me a letter on April 2009? I doubt it, as the post services between US and UK are so smooth and I never had any mail lost from the US. So or it's a very unfortunate coincidence, or then they are lying.” Reachout Trust • View topic - How much longer?

Brigham Young Univ Newspaper Recalled Over "Apostle/Apostate" Mix-up

Never a truer word brother, never a truer word. And who would have thought a spellchecker would be capable of a Freudian Slip? All copies of the student paper at Brigham Young University have been recalled after a caption labeled a group of Mormon church leaders as "apostates" instead of "apostles." In referring to activities at the General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints last weekend, the caption read in part, 'Members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostates and other general authorities raise their hands in a su...

A Challenge to Mormons

In a 19th June news statement the Mormon Church explained its purpose, structure and place in the world. In the Organisation section they state the following: "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is organized the same way that Christ organized His church in New Testament times. It is led by a prophet who serves as president of the Church. He has two counselors, and these three leaders constitute the First Presidency. The First Presidency is assisted by twelve apostles, who are special witnesses of Jesus Christ to all the world. Leaders called seventies assist the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and serve in various areas throughout the world. Local congregations are led by bishops. The main organization for women in the Church is the Relief Society, which was founded in 1842." To claim that the Mormon Church is organised the same way that the Lord organised his church in New Testament times Mormons would have to find a clear biblical model of church and demonstrate...
